Navigation needs some updates. This place isn't easy to get around. I should be able to easily get around with the click of a button from any page. Look at the bottom of this page, you can see that there's a navigation pane that has each class you can be, weapons, and so on. If we could start out with something simple like one that list the classes that would be a fantastic place to start. There also needs to be a way to get around via the left side of the screen. Currently that is basic as hell. Take a look again at my link. From the left side's bar you can go to NPC list pages, class pages, zone pages, and so on. We're going to need that. bc asked for a link to #firefall on GlobalGamers. I'm gonna add #firefallwiki to that request, as we simply need more editors. - lycan.nick (talk) 02:59, 30 October 2012 (EDT)

Done -Thaewyn 15:17, 11 June 2012 (EDT)

- Can the "Melding Field Destabilizer" link get a redirect/change to "Melding Anomaly Neutralizer" ? As of now there's a double redirect and i cant change anything on the main page --Minosha, 12:52 04 January 2013 (GMT+1)

Signing Talk Sections

I'm active on a few other wikis so I know that you need to put four tildes (These things ->(~)) after a post to sign it. However, there's no way that someone new to the wiki could know that. I think that a prompt to sign your posts should be placed so that it will appear whenever anyone starts editing a talk page. TSO (talk) 08:44, 30 October 2012 (EDT)

Navigation Revamp

Hey guys, we're going to need some kind of overhaul to the navigation system here, and I want to open up discussion on how to handle this. Please feel free to mess around with the structure here, and once we get it somewhere that we can all agree on, I'll apply it to the homepage. -Thaewyn (talk) 11:43, 11 December 2012 (EST)

This is how it currently looks:

  • Gameplay
  • PvE
  • PvP
  • Items/Equipment
  • News/Events
  • User Interface

Suggested version (Edit Me!):

  • Battleframes
    • Weapons
      • Primary
      • Secondary
    • Abilities
      • Recon
      • Engineer
      • Biotech
      • Assault
      • Dreadnaught
    • Modules
      • Plating

  • Open World
    • SIN Towers (or Cities / Settlements)

    • Outlaws (Tanken, bandits etc.)
    • Shadow Network maybe? <-- Whats this ? The recent ARG mentioned it. (Hellhounds ARG) They're some sort of far reaching criminal conspiracy that is unaffiliated with any known faction as of right now and they seem to be opposed to the Accord. => dont know if the "alternate reality" stuff belongs here Oo any suggestions ? =>It belongs. It's part of the lore and it's probably not retconned so we should have a section on it at the very least. It'll be a very small section but whatever.

Looks good so far! One thing I'll mention, I'll only have the top 2 levels of navigation visible on the main page, everything else will be further down than that (category pages, etc) So the main page will have 'Open World' > 'Creatures', and then the 'Creatures' link will go to that category, where people can drill down into Aranhas, Threshers, Claws, whatever. Just something to keep in mind -Thaewyn (talk) 10:57, 12 December 2012 (EST)
thats what i thought you would do ^^ and quastion ... where to put "Nanotemplates" ? if it even has to be in the list, because it could be a linking category only
Nanotemplates go under crafting. More than that, we'll have to see. -Thaewyn (talk) 15:44, 12 December 2012 (EST)
Should creatures alterd by the Melding go under "Melding" directly or too under "Creatures"? And i am not so sure anymor about the Creature Classifications (avian, mammal etc.) people searching for a Nautilus as example shouldnt first be thinking what class they could be in. Any suggestions ? Because Treshers should now go under "Reptilian" together with the newly introduced "Salamanders" - Minosha, 18 December 2012

Navigation really needs to be improved, badly.

The Wiki is improving in a lot of ways, but a lot of the administration things haven't improved. The Navigation bar on the side really needs to be better. It should list some general things like Battleframes (and then the Battleframe page would link to other things). The Wiki's been around for so long without any progress on the things that requires the admins... Copain (talk) 17:28, 8 August 2013 (EDT)

A proper skin and flashy menu would surely help the wiki, but that would need somebody to make some stuff and the admins to put it on.

In the meantime i'm trying to structure the main page, into what could be a menu, if you have suggestions on that, i think you can use the "Navigation Revamp" subpage here (it's outdated once again). It's not that easy to tell what should be categorized as what and in which order it should be listed or what's missing, is maybe poorly named and such. Some nicer tables with fancy CSS backing would be cool too :3 - Minosha (talk) 17:39, 8 August 2013 (EDT)

Lycan.nick was in contact with someone who could get a nice CSS for the wiki, but last I heard, that's been stalled for quite some time. If anyone knows CSS/knows someone that does, they could take up that project. Weableandbob (talk) 18:58, 8 August 2013 (EDT)
Navigation stuff shouldn't be that hard to change, it's just a matter of making adding a link (As far as I know? I'm not saying anything complicated, just for it to say "battleframe" or "Crafting" on the side). The real issue is an average person can't mess with it and the admins aren't doing it.. Copain (talk) 19:04, 8 August 2013 (EDT)
If you want to do the CSS (or refer someone to do CSS) the only class that's really used in the articles themselves is class "wikitable"... everything else is sidebar, header, or footer stuff, which is all documented in MediaWiki's documentation. Post your proposed changes to your user stylesheet, and we can copy it over to our own for testing before we push it live as the default.

I can do CSS; I'm just busy working with the JavaScript and stuff that my current Nanoprint project demands. tbh, what we need is more editors, because more editors means we more experienced editors and admins can take care of more important things like CSS and JavaScript and templates.
