Raiders are considered outlaws that belong to neither faction, but are handled as hostiles as they are exploiting the ongoing war between the Accord and the Chosen to their own benefits. They are stealing, occupying and destroying Accord tech and points of interest, resulting in a strong demand on ARES Teams to handle such situations.
Bandits are commonly found all over the world, no matter how hostile the climate is. They can be found anywhere from Diamondhead to Antarctica, although their largest presence is in New Eden. Bandits possess a wide variety of equipment, ranging from standard issue Assault Rifles to Plasma Cannons. A number of bandits also seem to have access to modified versions of the Bio Rifle and Heavy Laser MG, although these weapons are reserved for the more elite units. Several groups of bandits also possess a strange teleportation technology, allowing them to warp to and from anywhere at will, although it is assumed that this requires an enormous amount of energy to execute.
Bandits frequently target Accord installations in order to steal supplies and data, often times attempting to access the Arclight's mainframes. They can also be found making camp in caves or makeshift shelters, often along with their stolen goods.
Bandits often resort to trickery and ambushes in order to accomplish their goals. They frequently set up LGV ambushes along roads, lure passersby with calls for help, and impersonate Accord personnel. They are also not above scavenging, frequently found digging through Crashed LGVs.
The Ophanim are a mysterious third faction in the war against The Chosen. They are hostile to both Accord and Chosen alike, and appear to have an obsession with both factions' technology.
Pirates are a group of Raiders found along coastal regions, particularly around Sunken Harbor. They are similar to Bandits, but differ in a few key ways. Pirates tend to be armed with more basic equipment, relying on Assault Rifles, Shotguns, and Grenade Launchers most of the time. Pirates with Plasma Cannons and Heavy MGs are sighted on occasion, but they are much less common.
Pirates also differ visually from standard bandits. They usually don gasmasks and sleeveless shirts instead of the cloaks used by bandits. A special group of pirates, the Crystal Skull Pirates, wear strange transparent skulls instead of gasmasks for an unknown reason.
The Blood Kings are technically an ARES outfit, and thus have access to military grade Battleframes. However, they are extremely violent and ruthless, making them much more like Raiders than normal ARES pilots. They are one of the larger and well known ARES outfits in the world, and are to maintain such a large size by taking virtually anyone as a recruit. It is mentioned that they often recruit from prisons, which likely contributes to the violent nature of the outfit.
