Trigger

Whenever the local player receives a message from another player.


Values passed to bound function
Value Type Description
channel string The message's channel (See list below...)
author_id number Sending player's entity ID
text string Content of message
event string Is always "on_chat_message"
author string Sending player's name
dev boolean isDev

Notes

Known Channels:

  • zone
  • squad
  • yell
  • say (local)
  • none (whisper)

Other Notes:

This event fires for messages from the local player in the squad channel, but not the others.

Currently the client prevents scripts from triggering an ON_CHAT_MESSAGE event.
